Powerful cooling with unprecedented efficiency. This air conditioner / heat pump cools and heats, and wires directly to a battery with no inverter needed.

These are 48 volt units. 24 volt units are available in smaller capacities here.

You need a 48V or 24V battery to operate these units, running them directly on solar without a battery will not work reliably and can damage them. The battery doesn't have to be large. The longer you want to run the unit without full sun, the bigger battery you want.

Mini splits are the best for permanent structures. To install, the copper lines are run between the indoor "head unit" and the outdoor "condenser" unit.

Once the lines are connected, they are vacuumed out, and the gas from inside the outdoor unit is released into the system by a turn of an allen key. You then supply the unit 48 volts DC input using appropriately sized power cables (a positive and a negative), and turn on the unit inside using the included remote. 

You now have real, high power air conditioning with zero monthly bills in perpetuity and no reliance on city power.

The pure DC nature of this air conditioner allows it reach efficiencies that exceed top SEER-rated devices by 30% when used in solar powered projects. They do not have a high starting current, and do not create any load on the inverter. Since air conditioning uses so much power, skip the inverter.

Monitor usage using a Smart Shunt or turn the unit off early before your battery is fully depleted with a Battery Protect module. Create an autonomous climate control system that uses your entire solar harvest. The brighter the sun's rays are beating down on your panels, the longer and colder this air conditioner will work.

Multiple pure DC heat pumps can be paralleled together for large structures such as warehouses or commercial green house operations (see window units). Safety, especially in humid environments, is significantly improved as these are inherently low voltage devices.

Multi-zone Units

Multi zone units have multiple heads each with its own remote, connected to only one outdoor unit large enough to accommodate both heads running at the same time. Multi-zone units do not come with the copper lines, only the connecting nuts. You will need to purchase appropriate lengths of copper tubing and insulation to match. When you buy your unit, we are happy to assist you with getting the right size tubing, or you can purchase it at the local hardware store.
